U.S. Embassy Support for Georgian Women Winemakers

On March 15, 2024, a special wine tasting event was held at the U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi, initiated by U.S. Ambassador Kelly Degnan. The event featured wines crafted by members of the Women in Wine Industry Association (WIWI).

Ambassador Degnan, along with embassy representatives and invited guests, had the opportunity to sample a curated selection of wines and engage directly with the women winemakers behind each bottle. The event offered a platform for storytelling, cultural exchange, and appreciation of Georgia’s winemaking tradition—particularly the contributions of women in the field.

This initiative highlights the strong cultural and economic ties between Georgia and the United States, and serves as a meaningful endorsement of Georgian women winemakers on the international stage.

The Women in Wine Industry Association expresses its sincere gratitude to the U.S. Embassy for their ongoing support in promoting Georgian wine and empowering women in the sector.
