Success of "Women in Wine Industry" Association Members at the IWSC International Competition

04/12/2023

In 2023, members of the Women in Wine Industry Association (WIWI) proudly participated in the International Wine and Spirits Competition (IWSC) – Wine Judging in Georgia. The event drew attention from esteemed wine professionals worldwide, and the wines submitted by WIWI members received high praise from the judging panel, earning a number of awards and medals.

Among the 18 gold medalists was Doctor’s Bio Marani, a family-run winery located in Chumlaki, Gurjaani Municipality, participating in an international competition for the first time.

“This was my first time participating in an international competition. I submitted just one wine—our 2021 Qvevri Unfiltered Rkatsiteli. I believed in its quality from the beginning, which is why I applied. But when I saw how many renowned producers were present, I began to feel unsure. In the end, our wine was awarded a gold medal,”

said Marieta Kakiashvili-Ruadze, founder of Doctor’s Bio Marani.

The Women in Wine Industry Association congratulates all of its members on this outstanding achievement. This success not only honours the craftsmanship and dedication of Georgia’s women winemakers but also reaffirms the international potential and excellence of Georgian wine.
